According to the research results of the discourse analysis, UNHCR is developing a problem representation, for climate migration, which is presented as an urgent problem caused by climate change. The problem representation is linked to well- established agreements, conferences and debates, posing a threat that requires immediate action by the international community. According to the research results, analyzed with the securitization theory, UNCHR uses historical accomplishments and statistics to emphasize its role as a solution to the problem. Meanwhile, is climate migration discussed alongside other societal issues in order to securitize the problem as an urgent threat. (Less)
