The aim of this study was to illustrate the phenomena of gaming addiction and problematic gaming. In order to achieve this, we have examined how people on the internet forum Reddit comprehend gaming addiction and problematic gaming, and how they construct gaming as a social problem/nonproblem. This study is a qualitative netnographic study, which means that we have conducted our research exclusively online to gain a deeper understanding of Reddit users' thoughts and ideas in regard to gaming addiction and problematic gaming. In this study, we applied a social constructive perspective too, by using a thematic analysis method, digging deeper into how the language used by the Reddit users helps us understand how they comprehend and construct gaming as a social problem, alternatively a nonproblem. The results of this study indicate that the way Reddit users comprehend and construct gaming addiction and problematic gaming is due to a, for the most part, common interpretation of the words used to describe the phenomena. Other results found indicate that gaming and problematic gaming is subjective in regards to who is regarding the phenomena; depending on that person's social world, views and previous understanding of the phenomena.
