Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate how permanent employees on the Swedish labor market perceive they are affected by a change of manager. The study
analyzes the significance it can have for the employee, as well as which factors can influence and cause a negatively or positively experienced change. This information could benefit most companies when changing managers, which makes the topic interesting to investigate. Previous studies suggest that a manager has a great impact and importance on employees. This examination is conducted as a qualitative interview study in order to investigate the subject in depth. This information could benefit most companies when changing managers, which makes the topic interesting to investigate. Previous studies suggest that a manager has a great impact and importance on employees. This examination is conducted as a qualitative interview study in order to investigate the subject in depth. Six interviewees from different industries within the Swedish labor market participated. The result showed four main themes with three sub themes respectively. First main theme: Different attitudes towards the change of manager, with three sub-themes: Anxieties and fears, Fun and welcome and Understanding towards the change. Second main theme: The change of manager did not affect the work, with sub-themes: Independent work, Informal leaders and Unchanged motivation. Third main theme: Positive experience of the change of manager, with sub-themes: New manager more involved than previous manager, Expectations of the change of manager were exceeded and Increased motivation, support and opportunities. Last main theme: Negative experience of the change of manager, with sub-themes: New manager less involved than previous manager, Expectations of the change of manager were not met and Lack of communication and support. The result also indicated that if the new manager is more familiar with the employee's work than the previous manager, the change of manager will be perceived positively, and conversely if the new manager is less experienced than the previous manager, the change of manager will be perceived negatively.
