Syfte: Syftet med uppsatsen är att studera studentnationernas
demokratiska förhållningssätt. Då det tidigare inte har
genomförts så mycket forskning på detta område hoppas vi att

framtida forskningssammanhang.
Metod: Studien har genomförts som en hermeneutisk klassificerings-
analytisk fallstudie. Genom denna metod har vi haft möjlighet
att fokusera på vad innehållet i materialet faktiskt betyder
och på djup detaljnivå genom att bara studera en nation.
Teoretiska perspektiv: Studien utgår helt och hållet från Robert Dahls kriterier om
en demokratisk process. Teorin har underlättat tolkningen av
innehållet i dokumenten och möjliggjort en klassificering
utifrån idealvärdena.
Empiri: Det empiriska materialet har samlats in genom en genomgång i
nationens protokollarkiv. Den empiriska omfattningen är stor
och utgår från över hundra årsmötes- och styrelsemötesprotokoll.
Utöver det har även nationens stadgar och policyer behandlats.
Resultat: Studien har lyckats konkretisera nationens ageranden utifrån
givna demokratikriterier. Underlag för framtida forskning
finns med denna uppsats som klassificerande utgångspunkt.
Studien har även närmat sig tänkbara orsaker till dessa

has been completed regarding the subject. We therefore hope to

Methodology: This study was conducted as a case study with a hermeneutic
classifying analysis. Through this method we were able to
focus on what the contents of the material used actually means.
By only studying one nation we were also able to really study
the finer details of the democratic process.
Theoretical perspectives: The theoretical perspectives in this essay is entirely based on
Robert Dahl’s criterion on a democratic process. This chosen
theoretical perspective has allowed the interpretation of
the content in the analyzed documents and allowed a
classification derived from the criterion which Dahl presents.
Empirical foundation: The empirical material has been collected through the student
associations archive. The scope of the empirical collection is
extensive and is based on over a hundred annual and board
meetings protocols. Furthermore, the students associations
statutes and policies have been addressed as well.
Results: The conducted research was able to identify and concretize the
actions of the nation given the presented criterion on a
democratic process. This allows for future research on the
subject by giving a theoretical foundation to rely on when
studying democracy in student associations. (Less)
