In recent years, social movements have emerged as increasingly important actors on the global political arena. This has been in tandem with a new wave of climate movements, one of which being Extinction Rebellion (XR). The study focuses on XR and how they navigate the field of environmental governance. The investigation aims to locate diagnostic, prognostic, and motivational frames in XR’s discourse, as well as determine their significance. As was discovered through discourse analysis methology, XR has mobilised thousands of supporters through effective climate communication and issue framing. They are seen as a crucial meaning-signifier and a part of knowledge construction. (Less)
