Abstract
In times of uncertainty and rapid changes it is crucial for organizations to be able to adjust to new circumstances in order to secure their survival. Creativity has been suggested as an important component in making this possible. In order for creativity to flourish in the workplace certain conditions need to be met. In this study the aim was to find out whether group personality, aggregated individual creativity in groups and experience of psychological safety in groups correlated with group creativity. In times of uncertainty and rapid changes it is crucial for organizations to be able to adjust to new circumstances in order to secure their survival. Creativity has been suggested as an important component in making this possible. In order for creativity to flourish in the workplace certain conditions need to be met. In this study the aim was to find out whether group personality, aggregated individual creativity in groups and experience of psychological safety in groups correlated with group creativity. Moreover, the relationship between group personality and the experience of psychological safety in groups was investigated. In total 96 participants were recruited from different work places
within the public and private sector. These participants were allocated to 30 groups. All analyses were then conducted with these groups as units. Bivariate correlation analyses on group means showed a medium strong positive relationship between Openness and group creativity as well as between individual creativity and group creativity. A medium strong negative relationship was seen between psychological safety and subclinical Psychopathy as well as Machiavellianism. We also found a medium strong positive relationship between psychological safety and subclinical Narcissism. We conclude that more research is needed in order to guide organizations on how to facilitate creative processes regarding group

I tider av instabilitet och snabba förändringar krävs det av organisationer att snabbt kunna ställa om till nya förutsättningar för att kunna säkra sin överlevnad. Kreativitet har föreslagits vara en viktig komponent för att kunna göra detta möjligt. För att kreativitet ska kunna blomstra på arbetsplatser krävs det att vissa förutsättningar är uppfyllda. I denna studie var syftet att ta reda på om gruppers personlighet, sammantagna individuella kreativitet och deras upplevelse av psykologisk trygghet hade samband med gruppkreativitet. Vi konstaterar att mer forskning behövs för att kunna vägleda organisationer gällande hur kreativa processer faciliteras utifrån gruppkomposition. (Less)
