The result of the empirical study support that mandatory restrictions are an ineffective strategy to save human lives. Fiscal policy measures showed a limited impact on the economy, but monetary policy measures showed to be ineffective and failed to alleviate the economic strains experienced by households and businesses. The results indicates that the costs of the measures put in place to combat the corona pandemic and the economic costs of the restrictions exceeded the benefits the abovementioned measures brought to communities.
