Brandteknisk riskvärdering av Terminal 4, Arlanda

A. Brand i klädbutik
B. Brand i soptunna
A. Brand i klädbutik
B. Brand i soptunna
(Less) - Abstract
- Arlanda is one of northern Europe’s largest airports servicing 18,4 million travelers in 2022. Ensuring the safety of everyone moving through or working within the building requires a large-scale safety and security infrastructure. After identifying potential scenarios using statistics and information gathered on site, two scenarios were selected to analyze further.
A. Fire in the clothing store
B. Fire in a trashcan
The scenarios were simulated in CFAST and FDS using Pyrosim to generate the building layout and Pathfinder to simulate the evacuation. The results were used to estimate the Available Safe Egress Time (ASET) and a comparison was made with the Required Safe Egress Time (RSET).
Results from the tests show that the terminal has problems meeting safety criteria in terms of visibility and smoke spread during larger fires.
Based on results of the analysis the following actions need to be taken to meet the safety criteria set regarding the safety of people:
• Install automatic opening of the smoke vents.
• Train staff in fire procedure and evacuation.
• Install panic bars on doors used for evacuation. (Less)
