Abstract (Swedish)
Studiens... (More)

Abstract (Swedish)
The study investigated how a case study through method triangulation can contribute to anuanced and detailed understanding of what challenges and strategies can be experienced in the development of group dynamics in a virtual team. With a theoretical basis in Tuckman phases of group development, Systems centered theory and An integrated model of group development, the team's attachment to the different phases of the models was investigated. With the help of previous research, the identified challenges and strategies were analyzed.
The result presents the challenges experienced by the team and the strategies used, further a discussion is conducted on whether these can be explained by the degree of attachment to the phases in the different... (More)

With a theoretical basis in Tuckman phases of group development, Systems centered theory and An integrated model of group development, the team's attachment to the different phases of the models was investigated. With the help of previous research, the identified challenges and strategies were analyzed.
The result presents the challenges experienced by the team and the strategies used, further a discussion is conducted on whether these can be explained by the degree of attachment to the phases in the different group development models.
The study's contribution directs criticism of the group development models' lack of consideration for contextual factors, which in virtual teams often are constant change, and that organizations and teams need to create conditions in the form of stability in the group composition in order for a team to be able to develop to become productive. The presented practical implications indicate that teams should try to create conditions for developing group dynamics by not constantly changing group composition. If this is not possible, recruiting
senior members is likely to be beneficial. The use of method triangulation helped create the sought-after understanding about virtual teams and is suggested to be used in future research to further nuance the complexity of virtual team group dynamics development. (Less)
