The aim of this study is to investigate the latest events regarding the burning of the Koran in Sweden. This study investigates what kind of legal alternatives police have regarding public gatherings and how this process around the Koran burnings has been experienced by a small amount of Muslims in Sweden. The study is qualitative, with data collection consisting of interviews with experts within relevant legislation and Islamologists. In addition to experts, a few anonymous Swedish Muslims have also been interviewed. Through the data collection, thematic analyses have been carried out to discover themes that may answer the research questions. The results indicate that the participating Muslims' confidence in the police remains unchanged and relatively strong. However, some feel that their confidence in the judiciary has been negatively affected by the Koran burnings. It has also emerged that the legal process is complex, and it is not possible to insert "national security" in the law of order as the wording is considered arbitrary. On the other hand, there may be other legal possibilities, including that police are given greater capacity to change the location of public gatherings or that the burning of the Koran can be covered by the legislation on incitement to ethnical or racial hatred.
