Abstract
The development of circus as a subject in the community school of music and art, “Kulturskolan”, is strongly influenced by the history and traditions of the circus. Historically, the circus has been a nomadic art form without established institutions, which poses challenges when integrating into Kulturskolan.

Circus differs considerably from other subjects at the Kulturskola and it requires special resources and adaptations. Despite the challenges at Kulturskolan, the progress of developing circus classes for kids instills hope that more people will be able to experience circus, either as participants or spectators.
