- Abstract (Swedish)

(Less) - Abstract
- In connection with two concert occasions, I investigated whether higher music
education makes a difference to the individual's listening and whether it affects how
we listen to and value different types of music and genres. The effect a higher music
education has on our ability to listen to music is the research topic.
The target groups at the two concerts were deliberately different. They had similar
concert experiences with the same pieces of music, presentation of the pieces and
instruments.
Two markedly different works were played by me on the marimba, Polaris by Mark

Two markedly different works were played by me on the marimba, Polaris by Mark
Ford (1995) and two movements from Bach's B minor partita for violin. Afterwards,
the members of the audience were given questionnaires to answer, where it was
clear from the results that there was a distinct and significant difference between the
different target groups' experience of the same music and presentation. (Less)
