Abstract
This bachelor thesis studies the probabilities of dice rolls in tabletop roleplaying
games, to see if any correlation can be found between the system and the desired
theme for the game. Due to the growing popularity of tabletop roleplaying, it is a
field worth exploring, as it touches the lives of many people around the world. Four
different roleplaying systems is studied, and through comparing probabilities,
means, variance and how these changes with some of the common variations of
rolls within the game, some conclusions were made.
The findings show that there are similarities between systems which could be
assessed to strengthen similar themes, as well as differences where the themes
separate. Further studies would be needed to... (More)

The findings show that there are similarities between systems which could be
assessed to strengthen similar themes, as well as differences where the themes
separate. Further studies would be needed to strengthen the hypothesis and
pinpoint the relevant mechanics and effects. Should they be found, it could
potentially help the development of future games and thereby enhance the gaming
experience for players worldwide. (Less)
