Interviews were made with residents of Monterrico, in order to develop and respond to the research problem based on relevant interviewees perceptions of the matter discussed. Further, the data collected was analyzed and discussed with careful consideration of the two conceptual frameworks; inclusive democracy and feminism with a theoretical approach, with the aim of attaining an understanding and a deep, multidimensional response to the research problem.
Finally this thesis concludes that in the case of Monterrico, Guatemala there is an active and maintained democratic system in the local community which regards local development processes. However the inclusivity in these democratic processes is limited and unequal for different social groups based on social identities, which in its turn weakens the presented democracy.
