Theories around the much before studied phenomenon of issue ownership and issue competition are applied to the speeches made by three party representatives of the parties who make up the ruling government. The study analyzes the frequency of which individual representatives mention issues pertaining to three categories of priority; Climate, Security and Competition. It also takes into account the amount of space different priorities take up. This process has yielded interesting results and a few implications can be made. The representatives all seem to prioritize different issues most, although there are many similarities in choice of topics. The most prominent conclusion consists of the finding that issue competition and issue ownership can be used to explain why the political representatives prioritize discussions about certain issues. Although, the theoretical grounds used in this study are not fully sufficient in explaining the prominent role of relevant and critical issues such as the war in the Ukraine and the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
