- This study aims to investigate to what extent Donald Trump personifies the characteristics of “right wing populism”. In order to conduct this investigation we have sought to analyze previous research around the terms populism and more precisely right-wing populism. In doing this we hope that it will enable us to distinguish the characteristics of right-wing populism. Once we know the main characteristics, the goal is to create an “ideal type” which we then will use to compare with Trump's political ambitions. In order to make this study feasible we have decided to limit our analysis to Trump's 2016 manifesto “100 days of action to Make America Great Again”.
