This study investigates the opinions of young individuals on criminal policy and discusses it in relation to their consumption of political news through social media as well as other factors that play a part in the opinionforming of youth. A survey was administered to upper secondary school students in Skåne, Sweden. The results were then analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression models. The results reveal a sample with a somewhat tough stance on criminal policy, emphasizing its political significance. Additionally, respondents' interest in politics correlates significantly with their position on the hard-liberal spectrum (p-value 0.001), while those considering criminal policy issues important exhibit significantly more liberal views on criminal politics (p-value 0.028). This research sheds light on the evolving landscape of political engagement among the youth in the context of criminal policy and social media influence. (Less)
