Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract
The study aims to investigate children's experiences of digi-physical obesity treatment. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, and eight
children (14 - 17 years old) with obesity were interviewed. The interviews were
transcribed and subsequently analyzed using a critical realist thematic analysis.
Five themes and 14 subthemes were identified. The first theme, "Accessibility",
highlights that digi-physical healthcare has led to increased access to healthcare, thereby facilitating the participants' daily lives. Increased accessibility is one of the advantages most frequently mentioned by the participants. The second theme, "Awareness and motivation", describes how the app has increased users' awareness of sleep, weight,... (More)

Increased accessibility is one of the advantages most frequently mentioned by the participants. The second theme, "Awareness and motivation", describes how the app has increased users' awareness of sleep, weight, physical activity, and diet. The third theme, "Decreasing usage", describes that participants' usage of the app decreases over time. The fourth theme, "The app and mental health", highlights that using the app may lead to feeling mentally unwell when set goals are not achieved.
Furthermore, app usage may decrease if one is already experiencing poor mental
well-being. The fifth and final theme, "Development potential", describes the
pros and cons of the app's features today. These themes highlight the
participants' experiences, such as how digi-physical healthcare facilitates daily
life and creates increased performance. Overall, the results suggest that the use
of the app has led to experiencing increased motivation and awareness of one's
own health. The study contributes knowledge about patients' experiences, which
can be helpful for healthcare professionals in the development of obesity
treatment. The discussion describes the study's limitations and suggests
directions for future research. (Less)
