Abstract
The study focuses on the efforts surrounding youth delinquency from the perspectives of persons working in state and non-profit organizations. The aim is to investigate how the respondents perceive their roles in this endeavor and how these roles differ from each other. The methods employed in the study include a qualitative semi-structured interview study consisting of two interviews with non-profit organizational persons and a qualitative content analysis based on four podcasts, one of which is from a voluntary organization and the remaining three are government employees. The aim is to investigate how the respondents perceive their roles in this endeavor and how these roles differ from each other. This is done to gain an understanding of society's work against youth delinquency. The methods employed in the study include a qualitative semi-structured interview study consisting of two interviews with non-profit organizational persons and a qualitative content analysis based on four podcasts, one of which is from a voluntary organization and the remaining three are government employees. To analyze our empirical data, we have employed two power perspectives, unseen power, and symbolic violence, along with the theory of Street-level bureaucracy and the concept of discretion. The study revealed differences and similarities between the actors. Both parties held a position of power over the youth but in different ways. We also identified a distinction in the perspectives and approaches towards the youth, where non-profit workers aim for a more trusting relationship, while those working in the state are more focused on a professional relationship. Both sides are necessary in society to generate the best possible efforts against youth delinquency. (Less)
