Abstract (Swedish)
(Less)
Abstract
The well-being of the employees in the workplace directly correlates with the development of both the work environment and the organization as a whole. An unfavorable work situation can lead to an unhealthy working environment, resulting in high absenteeism, whereas a favorable work situation where employees experience high job satisfaction has been shown to reduce absenteeism. Therefore, the success of an organization is heavily reliant on the well-being of its employees. This paper aimed to investigate the relationship between job satisfaction and autonomy, social support and work-life balance, guided by the self-determination theory and job-characteristic model. Additionally, the study aimed to explore whether any of these factors contribute more significantly to job satisfaction. Data were collected quantitatively through a web-based survey measuring the organizational and social work environment using the Copenhagen Psychosocial Questionnaire (COPSOQ).The participants consisted of 94 employees from various industries. Data were analyzed through correlation analysis and hierarchical regression analysis. The correlation analysis revealed that autonomy, social support and work-life balance were positively correlated with job satisfaction, supporting all hypotheses of the study. A hierarchical regression analysis indicated that autonomy, social support and work-life balance impact job satisfaction. Furthermore, the results demonstrated that social support has a greater effect on job satisfaction compared to autonomy and work-life balance. This study contributes to the research on job satisfaction by providing an understanding of the factors exert the greatest
influence. (Less)
