Abstract
A vital part of the surveillance market is constituted by dome cameras,
which through constant technology development, feature more and more
cutting-edge technology to increase the end user’s surveillance experience.
mmWave radar is potentially one such technology, where the rapid
development in recent years in IT and automotive industries, has propelled
the technology with improved performance and decreased cost.
Traditionally, radar technology excels at detection from afar, but due to its

This thesis aimed to find an integrative mechanical solution, combining both
radar and dome camera technology, that can enhance the end user’s
surveillance experience. The project mainly followed the Ulrich and
Eppinger development method, with some of the authors’ own
modifications. Structurally, it is divided into the three main sections:
Pre-Studies, Concept Development, and System Level Design.

Opportunities, limitations, and suitable camera platforms are discussed in
the planning phase. In the concept development phase, concept generation
and selection as well as testing are performed in order to evaluate the
feasibility and the mmWave radar performance. Multiple radome designs
were tested along with an already existing double-curved surface as a
radome. In the system-level design phase, designs were developed,
presented, and further evaluated.

In conclusion, a radar integration to a dome camera was possible and
therefore the main objective of this project has been achieved. (Less)

Strukturellt så delades projektet in i tre större faser:

(Less)
