This study investigates the level of engagement among female politicians in Örebro Municipal Council, with a particular focus on their commitment to climate policy compared to their male counterparts. The purpose of the study is to explore whether women generally exhibit greater dedication to climate issues. To address the research questions, a combination of interviews and quantitative content analysis has been employed. The study is framed by Anne Phillips’s theoretical concept of “The Politics of Presence”, which emphasizes the significance of diverse and equal representation in political decision making. As a case study, this research provides insights into the perspectives of female politicians through interviews and analysis materials collected from Örebro City Council protocols. The results indicate that female politicians are more active than male politicians within Örebro’s multiparty system. However, the findings also reveal how varying ideological perspectives influence decision making process and the outcomes of climate policy. The study concludes by highlighting the need for further research, particularly comparative studies across different Swedish municipalities, to better understand how municipalities effect the climate policy achieve more equitable representation.
