Abstract
Written exposure therapy is a written form of therapy intended to treat post-
traumatic stress disorder. In this literature review, the quality of RCT studies
conducted on WET was examined, as well as the clinical implications of what
emerged in the studies. Literature search resulted in six articles and one
dissertation. The quality of the studies was reviewed by using the Cochrane
Risk of Bias Tool and the RCT of Psychotherapy Quality Rating Scale. The
results of the review of the risk of systematic bias showed that four of the
studies received a correspondingly low risk, and that three of the reviewed
studies received a moderate risk of systematic errors. The quality of reviewed
studies did also vary. Four of the studies were... (More)

studies did also vary. Four of the studies were rated to be of very good quality,
two of the studies were of moderate quality and one of the studies was of
average quality. In the reviewed studies, it appeared that WET as a treatment
method had better results than the control group or non-inferior results
compared to the control group. It seems that WET is a treatment method that
appears to result in fewer treatment dropouts, shorter treatment duration and
requires less training for the therapists. This could mean that WET is a more
accessible variant of treatment for PTSD than other more established methods.
The overall conclusion is that reviewed RCT studies of treatment with WET
for PTSD appear to be of varying quality and that more studies are needed to
be able to draw further conclusions about evidence. (Less)
posttraumatiskt stressyndrom. I denna litteraturöversikt granskades kvaliteten
Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool samt RCT of Psychotherapy Quality Rating Scale.
(More)

evidens. (Less)
