Abstract (Swedish)
I studien deltog totalt 136 personer. (More)

(Less)
Abstract
Sports and club activities are a significant part of many Swedes' daily lives. Club sports seem tohave a substantial imp act and bring several social effects for people. The aim of his study was to further investigate these effects by examining the variables of self-esteem, coping strategies, and mental well-being for individuals who have participated in club sports and those who have not. Data collection was conducted using an online survey distributed on social media, targeting people aged 18 to 35 in Sweden. The survey consisted of questions that examined their sports background as well as our three variables. A total of 136 people participated in the study. The results showed that individuals who had participated in club sports had higher self-esteem than those who had not. Former athletes also had better mental well-being than non-athletes. The two groups appeared to have different coping strategies, but this could not be confirmed as the results were non-significant. The variables of self-esteem, coping strategies, and sports could predict mental well-being. The study's results were in line with previous research on the subject, and it could thus be concluded that individuals who have participated in club sports have better mental
well-being than those who have not. (Less)
