Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate attraction to people with Dark Triad traits as compared to people with the opposite to (reversed) Dark Triad traits. Furthermore, we explored if there are gender differences in attraction to the two personality types. The study employed experimental design, where participants (n=430) were randomly assigned one out of two vignettes; one describing an individual with Dark Triad traits (n=217), and the other a person with the reversed version of these traits (n=213). Subsequently, the participants got to answer a questionnaire consisting of several statements which were used to measure their degree of attraction toward the fictitious personalities, respectively. The results showed a statistically... (More)

Subsequently, the participants got to answer a questionnaire consisting of several statements which were used to measure their degree of attraction toward the fictitious personalities, respectively. The results showed a statistically significant difference between the personality types regarding their degree of attractiveness, where the reversed Dark Triad person was perceived as more attractive than its counterpart - regardless of the participants’ gender. However, men were more attracted to the described individual than were women, in both conditions. In conclusion, these results contribute to dismantling the common stereotypes and beliefs regarding bad boys and mean girls, as well as their perceived attractiveness and desirability. (Less)
