- This study explores the lived experience of individuals with level 1 autism in Sweden, focusing on how societal norms and regimes of truth shape their everyday lives. Drawing on Goffman's theories of stigma and normality, alongside Foucault's perspectives on neoliberalism, this paper investigates the societal challenges and expectations that individuals with autism face. Through interviews with people diagnosed with autism level 1 and participatory observations, the study uncovers how these individuals navigate societal norms and how they handle stigma and shame in a culture that tends to leave them in the margins. - This study explores the lived experience of individuals with level 1 autism in Sweden, focusing on how societal norms and regimes of truth shape their everyday lives. The paper examines the unique challenges posed by neoliberal ideals of self-sufficiency and productivity and highlights the discrepancies between societal expectations and the lived realities of individuals with autism.
