By examining the societal and biomedical discourse around autism and its impact on individual experiences, the study aims to uncover the underlying power structures that contribute to the stigmatisation and exclusion of autistic individuals. The paper examines the unique challenges posed by neoliberal ideals of self-sufficiency and productivity and highlights the discrepancies between societal expectations and the lived realities of individuals with autism. The study seeks to contribute to a deeper understanding of the intersection between autism, societal structures, and individual experiences. (Less)
