Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

Abstract
Research shows that people within the LGBTQI-community have poorer mental health compared to the general population. The workplace is an area where LGBTQI-people are at risk of being exposed to discrimination and minority stress. The workplace can, however, also be seen as an integral part of people’s lives and act as a protective factor against mental health issues. The promotion of a healthy working environment can serve an important role in the support of LGBTQI-people’s health. This study examined the experiences of anti-discrimination experts regarding their work using active measures based on Swedish discrimination legislation to improve the work-related health of LGBTQI-people. The promotion of a healthy working environment can serve an important role in the support of LGBTQI-people’s health. This study examined the experiences of anti-discrimination experts regarding their work using active measures based on Swedish discrimination legislation to improve the work-related health of LGBTQI-people. The purpose of this study was to gather their experiences in order to promote better knowledge on how to work with active measures in the workplace. This study was centered around the following research question: How, according to anti-discrimination experts, can workplaces improve the work-related health of LGBTQI-people? In this qualitative study, we interviewed ten anti-discrimination experts in semi-structured interviews, analysed with reflective thematic analysis and two main themes were identified: Insight - what do we need to consider? and Reality - Where are we and where do we go from here? The results show that the legislation regarding active measures is vague and hard to interpret, which makes working with and implementing active measures more complicated. The results also show that an anti-oppressive understanding is important for progression, where continuous reflection is necessary. The study underlines the importance of a situation-based, ongoing work against discrimination leading to concrete actions. (Less)
