Bakgrund: Sensoriska integrationssvårigheter kan påverka ungdomars dagliga aktiviteter, inklusive skolarbete. Bedömningsinstrumentet SPM-2, som syftar till att identifiera sådana svårigheter hos ungdomar, har nyligen översatts från den ursprungliga engelska versionen från USA. Den har dock ännu inte undersökts vad gäller användbarhet ur ett semantiskt och kulturellt perspektiv i den svenska
skolmiljön.
Syfte: Att undersöka lärares förförståelse av sensoriska integrationssvårigheter i svensk skolkontext, samt kulturell förståelse av frågorna i Sensory Processing Measure, andra upplagan (SPM-2) för ungdomar 12-21 år.

Bakgrund: Sensoriska integrationssvårigheter kan påverka ungdomars dagliga aktiviteter, inklusive skolarbete. Bedömningsinstrumentet SPM-2, som syftar till att identifiera sådana svårigheter hos ungdomar, har nyligen översatts från den ursprungliga engelska versionen från USA. Den har dock ännu inte undersökts vad gäller användbarhet ur ett semantiskt och kulturellt perspektiv i den svenska
skolmiljön.
Syfte: Att undersöka lärares förförståelse av sensoriska integrationssvårigheter i svensk skolkontext, samt kulturell förståelse av frågorna i Sensory Processing Measure, andra upplagan (SPM-2) för ungdomar 12-21 år.
Metod: Denna kvalitativa studie med deduktiv ansats är en del av tvärkulturell anpassningsstudie. Semistrukturerade intervjuer genomfördes med 10 deltagare och den insamlade datan analyserades med hjälp av kvalitativ innehållsanalys med fokus på det manifesta innehållet.
Resultat: Förförståelse hos lärarna inom området för sensoriska integrationssvårigheter och bedömningsinstrument var begränsade, trots att anpassningar i undervisningen och den fysiska miljön
genomfördes av lärarna. Deltagarna tyckte att språknivån på frågorna var lämpliga samt passande för dess syfte. Det framförde synpunkter till språklig anpassning eller förbättringsförslag.
Slutsats: Frågorna i SPM-2 är passande i svensk skolkontext, från både semantisk och kulturellt perspektiv. Små justeringar i vissa frågor krävs för att förtydliga språket. Forskningen är fortfarande pågående och kommer att fortsätta för att SPM-2 ska bli kliniskt tillgängligt i Sverige. (Less)

Background: Sensory integration difficulties can impact adolescents' daily activities, including schoolwork. The assessment tool SPM-2, which aims to identify such difficulties among adolescents, has recently been translated from the original English version from the USA. However, it has not yet been examined for its validity from a semantic and cultural perspective in the Swedish school
environment.
Aim: To explore teachers' preunderstanding of sensory processing difficulties in the Swedish school context, as well as their cultural understanding of the items in the Sensory Processing Measure, second edition (SPM-2), for youth aged 12-21 years.

Background: Sensory integration difficulties can impact adolescents' daily activities, including schoolwork. Method: This qualitative study with a deductive approach is part of a cross-cultural adaptation study. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 participants, and the collected data were analyzed using qualitative content analysis with a focus on the manifest content.
Results: The teachers' preunderstanding in the area of sensory integration difficulties and assessment tools was limited, despite adaptations in teaching and the physical environment being implemented by the teachers. The participants found the language level of the questions appropriate and suitable for
their purpose. They provided feedback on linguistic adaptation and suggestions for improvement.
Conclusion: The items in the SPM-2 are suitable in the Swedish school context, from both semantic and cultural perspectives. Minor adjustments to certain items are required to enhance the Swedish version of SPM-2. Research is still ongoing, and it will continue to ensure that the SPM-2 becomes clinically accessible in Sweden. (Less)
