Artificial intelligence (AI) has the potential to become essential in this industry, playing a vital role in addressing these challenges, particularly in imaging diagnostics and predictive analytics. AI-driven solutions can enhance the accuracy and efficiency of medical diagnostics, ultimately improving patient outcomes.

Precise Biometrics, with its extensive background in machine learning, aims to leverage its advanced image analysis and AI expertise to expand into the biomedical industry. This project explores potential areas within the biomedical industry that require AI solutions, ultimately offering suggestions for Precise Biometrics to effectively enter and thrive in this rapidly evolving market.

The study is divided into two main parts: a comprehensive analysis of the biomedical market and Precise Biometrics, and an investigation into promising biomedical areas for AI application. Through the usage of a literature review and frameworks for market and company analysis, the project identifies key opportunities and threats in the biomedical market and aligns them with the company’s strengths.

This alignment resulted in a selection and a closer investigation of five areas. The chosen areas were elderly care, screening, generative AI, cardiovascular health, and wound care. After evaluating these potential areas, cervical cancer screening emerged as the most viable for AI application. A proof of concept demonstrated an AI tool that assists cytotechnicians in identifying abnormal cells in pap smear images, thus streamlining the screening process.

The project results in multiple areas where Precise Biometrics can impact the healthcare industry by leveraging its AI and image analysis expertise. The suggested AI tool for cervical cancer screening demonstrates both feasibility and promising potential for implementation as well as exemplifies the company’s potential to enter the biomedical market and improve healthcare outcomes.
