- Research on CSR and Social Sustainability are broad fields that spans multiple disciplines, yet the scope of research that links CSR, social sustainability and gender is relatively small. Moreover, while there is an interest in understanding how to navigate gender relation in the workplace and market in the fields, there is limited engagement with feminist theories. The aim of this research is to explore Vision’s—a women’s cooperative social enterprise aimed at creating job opportunities and enhance economic independence for marginalize migrant women who have been distant from the labor market, initiatives towards CSR and social sustainability in Malmö by applying decolonial feminist lens.

To conduct this research, qualitative interviewing was employed as its main tool of data generation. The finding reveals that the women in Vision felt empowered by self-growth and community engagement, valuing that over economic independence. In addition, expressions of diverse cultural identities allowed the women to form strong social bonds and fostered a strong sense of belonging and community. Lastly, the experiences of women in Vision reflect a holistic approach to social sustainability in which cultural diversity, inclusion and well-being was emphasized over economic independence. (Less)
