Abstract (Swedish)
In complex product development, effective integration between design and pro- duction is crucial to minimizing time and costs. This project focuses on SAAB Kockums (SK), a global player in submarine manufacturing, aiming to identify and propose improvements for the development opportunities related to the de- sign and production guidelines (KPA) for piping systems.
The purpose is to explore the development opportunities SK has in terms of colla- boration between design and production. By analyzing the existing piping system KPA, several improvement opportunities have been identified that can lead to time efficiency and economic benefits for the company.
The focus has been on finding solutions that facilitate the manufacturing and assembly of piping systems, as well as simplifying the work for constructors.
The analysis shows that by further developing the identified opportunities, SK can improve the transition from design to production. This is particularly important for piping systems, where the complexity and need for precision are high. The final recommendations include continued improvement of communication between departments, implementation of new materials, continuous evaluations and im- provements, new designs, and optimized delivery and handling of multiclamps. Additionally, improved sorting of extension nuts and efficient warehouse manage- ment are suggested to reduce assembly workers’ search time and minimize the risk of incorrect use of components.
In summary, improving the piping system KPA and increasing integration between product development and production can lead to significant benefits for SK in terms of both time efficiency and economic gains. By implementing the proposed measures, SK can ensure a more efficient and cost-effective production process. (Less)
