- Abstract
- Norway is a country that has been praised and criticized for their climate policies throughout the years. Some of the critics are accusing Norway of exploitation under the protection of green transition. In other words, green colonialism. The cases being analyzed are: The Fosen-case, Norway's involvement in REDD+, Norway’s statements and involvement in COP26 and The 2050 Climate Change Committee’s report. The purpose of this thesis paper is to answer whether green colonialism occurs in these specific cases, both on international and national level, within the framework of Norway’s climate policy. Kwame Nkrumahs theory on neocolonialism together with the concept of green colonaialism will be used as the thesis theoretical framework. The thesis concludes that it is possible to find tendencies of green colonialism in these specific cases, and thus concludes legitimacy in the accusations. (Less)
