Sjösås nya kyrka stod färdig 1865: mitt i socknen, mitt i människors vardagsliv. En nyklassicistisk kyrka, byggd under en tid då den svenska landsbygden fortfarande ökade sin befolkning. Tiderna förändrades och människor lämnade landsbygden för staden. Kvar stod kyrkan, byggd för 400 besökare. De sista åren användes den i snitt åtta gånger per år. Efter en brand 2022 står endast murväggarna efter Sjösås nya kyrka kvar.
Detta examensprojekt undersöker hur en ruin kan användas som en utgångspunkt för en ny arkitektonisk gestaltning, med respekt för historiska händelser på platsen. Detta examensprojekt undersöker hur en ruin kan användas som en utgångspunkt för en ny arkitektonisk gestaltning, med respekt för historiska händelser på platsen. Rapporten presenterar en bakgrund om platsen och byggnaden, en diskussion om ruinens förutsättningar och några tankegångar kring kyrkorummets symbolik och karaktär, för att sedan avslutas med ett gestaltningsförslag för en ny, mindre,
kyrkobyggnad i samspel med ruinen.
Gestaltningsförslaget tar fasta på ruinens förmåga att skapa rum, och hur nya tillägg kan förstärka denna förmåga och samtidigt skapa en funktionell
kyrkobyggnad för samtida behov. (Less)

This thesis project examines how a ruin can be used as a starting point for for a new architectonic design, with respect for the history of the site. The report presents a background on the site and the building, a discussion about the prerequisites given by the ruin and some thoughts on the symbolics of a church building. The report concludes with a design proposal for a new, smaller, church building on the site, with special focus on the interplay between the ruin and the new addition.
The central point of the design is the rooms created by the ruin, how a new addition can enhance these rooms and at the same time create a functional church building for contemporary needs. (Less)
