Abstract (Swedish)

(Less)
Abstract
My choice of subject is based on my own relationship with stress and nervousness. I have
always felt it difficult to handle stress and that it has limited my performances. People talk
about nervousness a lot, but I have not known where to start. Therefore, my investigation is
based on an already existing method. It is to be found in Don Greene’s book “Audition
Success” and is an exercise about centering the focus to only one thing to perform better
under pressure. To compare the results in the investigation, I have two dates as a starting
point; one audition and one soloist competition. Between these days I will work with mental
practice. After the last performance, I will compare the results with the results of the first one.

practice. After the last performance, I will compare the results with the results of the first one.
The investigation shows a positive result. The biggest difference was how I handled the
situation before I entered the audition room; in other words, my mental preparations and what
mindset I had the day of the performance. While performing, I feel that I fell back into old
bad habits. One reason for that may be the aspect of time. By giving the investigation more
time, I could have established the focus exercise more, and would have had the mindset
subconsciously, instead of having to think actively about how to act. Then, the results would
have been more clear and the difference bigger. (Less)
