Producentansvar i byggbranschen

- Abstract
- The construction and demolition industry are annually responsible for 40% of the total amount of waste generated in Sweden. The problem facing the industry is that a very large portion of the waste is disposed of in landfills, and only a very small portion is recycled and reused. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the construction industry can become more circular and sustainable over time. Could producer responsibility be appropriate to introduce to promote recycling and reuse. What difficulties and challenges will the industry face in transitioning to a sustainable and circular industry. Can other industries with producer responsibility be compared to draw similarities and differences in the waste chain and waste management.... (More)

Can other industries with producer responsibility be compared to draw similarities and differences in the waste chain and waste management. What effects would producer responsibility have in the construction industry, and how could it benefit reuse and recycling. After conducting a literature review, surveys, and interviews, the conclusion is that the construction and demolition industry is underdeveloped in terms of reuse and recycling, with deficient sustainable and circular waste management. Economic incentives, legislation, and clearer distribution of responsibility, through producer responsibility, are required. For the industry to achieve its goals, it needs to transition from a linear to a circular industry, with more materials and products for recycling and reuse and less waste in landfills. (Less)
