- Abstract
- The “Endangered Oddballs” project addresses the pressing issue of biodiversity loss by using sculptures
as a medium for raising awareness and funds for endangered species. Using a combination of artistic
interpretation and scientific research to create a series of figures that accurately represent lesser-
known endangered animals. The research method involves close observation and study of each species’
appearance, behavior, and ecological significance with additional help provided by a conservation
group. Through a process of sculpting and design, the project brings attention to the unique traits and
characteristics of each species, highlighting their evolutionary distinctiveness and importance. The paper

shows in detail the successful creation of visually compelling figures using digital modeling and 3D-printing
technology as well as painting. The project shows how art is a powerful tool to educate and make viewers
think about their relationship with nature and hopefully take action to protect Earth’s biodiversity. (Less)
