The essay investigates two different datasets in this regard. One dataset contains representatives from the national government in Sweden and their “Klimathandlingsplan”. The other dataset contains of climate activist active in Sweden. The essay conducts a Narrative Policy Framework analysis, and the thesis found that two very different types of narratives exist within the context of climate change policy in Sweden. The government is reproducers of the master narrative and brings forward a narrative based on economic growth and climate change mitigation. The climate activist portrays a counter narrative to the governments and positions the narrative within ecology and reversing climate change. The findings indicates that there is a narrative battle going on regarding climate change policy in Sweden and that the master narrative is challenged by a counter narrative brought forward by climate activist.
