- Abstract
- The thesis examines the feasibility of establishing a World Environmental Organization (WEO) in accordance with cosmopolitan principles. In the context of growing global environmental challenges, particularly climate change, the inadequacies of existing governance frameworks – i.a. marked by fragmentation, inefficiency, and limited compliance – highlight the need for institutional reform. The study applies an idea analysis methodology, utilizing deliberative democracy as an analytical framework through ideal types, to evaluate whether a WEO could enhance global environmental governance. This research contributes to the discourse on global environmental governance by exploring the theoretical and practical viability of a WEO as a means to address urgent environmental challenges.
