- Abstract
- During the last few years, wind power has become a highly debated topic in Swedish politics. The reason for this being a debated topic is among others due to municipalities often using their veto that stops the expansion of wind power. A lack of social acceptance is often mentioned as the primary reason for municipalities to use their veto. This thesis uses Maarten A. Hajer’s argumentative discourse analysis as both a method and theory, with the aim of discovering changes in the discourse regarding wind power between 2016-2022. Moreover, is Rolf Wüstenhagens theory about social acceptance applied for analyzing how the changes in the discourse affects the perception of social acceptance of wind power.

Four problem images are identified, two that perceive wind power as necessary, and two that perceive wind power as inferior. These changes in the discourse are likely affecting the municipal decisions regarding wind power, and therefore also our perception of social acceptance. (Less)
