The analysis focuses on the three types of strategic narratives: issue, system, and identity narratives. By examining the initiative through these narratives, the study reveals that the Global Music Diplomacy Initiative is about much more than just simply spreading music and American culture globally. It represents a strategic effort to strengthen U.S. soft power by promoting an international image of the country as a peacekeeping, culturally influential nation that, among other things, values democratic ideals, diversity and global cooperation.
