- Abstract
- In 2019 changes were made in the Swedish Employment (Co-Determination in the Workplace) act which limited the ability of unions to take strike action against employers with a collective bargaining deal and regarding judicial disputes. In this essay the consequences for unions legal status are described and the consequences for the balance of power in the labour market are evaluated. Furthermore, the act in question was passed with the explicit goal of bringing democracy to the workplace. Therefore, the essay also evaluates whether the reforms promote this goal.

The reform also limits the ability of employees to decide over the forms for their own organ-ization, this is related to another effect, that inter-union competition is hin-dered. Furthermore, a legal space for yellow unions, controlled by employers is created because of the reform. - 2019 infördes förändringar i MBL som inskränkte rätten att vidta stridsåtgärder mot kollektivavtalsbunden arbetsgivare och vid rättstvist. I den här uppsatsen beskrivs konsekvenserna för arbetstagarorganisationers rättsliga ställning, konsekvenserna för maktbalansen på arbetsmarknaden utvärderas och också hur reformen påverkar demokratin i arbetslivet.
