Based on a pre-investigation report, a case study is conducted on the Swedish case of "Domstolskvinnan" (the Court Woman). The empirical material is analyzed using thematic content analysis and narrative analysis to identify personal and situational factors in the narrative motivating the woman to disclose sensitive information. The analysis reveals that the woman was primarily driven by
her love for the man she leaked information to, as well as her fear of him and the scare capital upheld by his criminal network. Furthermore, the analysis demonstrates that the woman was caught in a complex situation where her criminal actions were an attempt to avoid becoming a victim of violence. The study finds little evidence that the man used extensive manipulation techniques; rather, the woman’s vulnerability to social influence appears to have been a more significant factor in the case. Finally, the narrative analysis reveals that the environment in
which the woman tells the story, as well as her personal beliefs probably had an effect on the construction of the narrative. (Less)
