- The increased prevalence of remote work, particularly quickened by the COVID-19
pandemic, has impacted employers' responsibilities regarding workplace safety within
employees' homes. This thesis explores how the shift to remote work has redefined the legal
and practical boundaries of a secure work environment. Special focus is given to the role of
safety representatives in ensuring a safe and healthy work environment for employees
working remotely. The study investigates challenges such as the extent of employers'
obligations to examine employees' home offices, and the balance between maintaining
workplace safety and respecting employees' privacy. By analyzing Swedish law, regulations,
