Abstract
The purpose of this study was to investigate how women reflect on their own body after pregnancy and birth and how they experience the aesthetic and function of the body post-pregnancy. Considering earlier studies made within the field there seemed to be a knowledge gap in a swedish context of the subject. The study is based upon a qualitative method and contains of five interviews of women who opened up about their bodies and habits when it comes to physical activity. A thematic analysis made the process of the data easier to overview.

A thematic analysis made the process of the data easier to overview.
The analysis was based on Peter L. Berger and Thomas Luckmanns theory of social constructionism with some of Vivien Burr’s thoughts on the same theory and also George Herbert Meads theory about ”the generalized other”. Through the results it became clear that these five women idealized themselves pre pregnancy and that the ideal body is the one they once had. They don’t feel like their surrounding impact them in any way. The transition in becoming a mother seems to bring a state of ambivalence to the women who struggle in various ways to what they refer to ”bounce back” to their old body. (Less)
