Abstract
This essay aims to examine the function and significance of security protection regulations in Sweden and in the United States, The essay focuses on their historical and security policy contexts. In Sweden the Security Protection Act, säkerhetsskyddslagen, will be analyzed, while its American counterpart under review is The Protection of Classified Information, it is a collection of different security laws. Through a comparative analysis of the security protection legislation in each country, the study explores their origins, designs and possible connection to historical events. Through a comparative analysis of the security protection legislation in each country, the study explores their origins, designs and possible connection to historical events. The historical events in this study are World War 1 and II, the 7/7 attacks in London and 9/11 in the United States. Sweden shows a more linear development, somewhat detached from specific historical events, aligning instead with the general security landscape. In contrast, the United States’ legislative development is less linear, being more significantly shaped by the historical events addressed in this work. The conclusion emphasizes the importance of viewing security protection legislation as a dynamic process that must continually adapt to new challenges and demands. (Less)
