- Abstract
- This study aimed to create an understanding of how children within Jehovah’s Witnesses have gotten their emotional needs met during their childhood. We also wanted to study if there was a correlation between men and women and the attitude of needing emotional support. The collected empirical data was later coded through a quantitative analysis. To get a deeper understanding of the answers the respondents were allowed to add comments to their answers. It gave us a qualitative approach meaning a mixed-methods analysis was partly used. The analysis was further based on Pehr Granqvists theory about... (More)

The collected empirical data was later coded through a quantitative analysis. To get a deeper understanding of the answers the respondents were allowed to add comments to their answers. It gave us a qualitative approach meaning a mixed-methods analysis was partly used. The analysis was further based on Pehr Granqvists theory about attachment and a possible attachment to God. We used the concepts of opinions, individuality, and privacy which gave us indications of different forms of attachment. It also gave us indications if the non-active members experienced that their emotional needs were met. The results showed that the respondents of Jehovah’s Witnesses had similar experiences of how their emotional needs were met. 33 respondents participated in the survey, making it nonapplicable to the rest of the population. The results can however be strengthened with previous research. The results further showed indications of the respondent's attachment to God, which has been analyzed and discussed in this study. In conclusion, the results showed that most of the respondents didn’t get their emotional needs met during their childhood, which led to the need for emotional support. (Less)
