Abstract
The ADHD-diagnosis has increased significantly in recent years. This study aims to investigate factors behind the increase in ADHD diagnoses, as well as what difficulties and challenges may arise when more people receive an ADHD diagnosis. The intent is to also find out whether this increase may be a symptom of a wider societal problem. The method used in this study was a qualitative method. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten professionals in the field. The individuals that participated are doctors, researchers, psychiatrists, counselors and psychologists. Thematic analysis was used as an aid to produce themes which in turn contributed to us being able to produce a coherent result. In the analysis of the outcomes the theory... (More)

In the analysis of the outcomes the theory of social constructivism and Beck's theory of the risk society was applied. The results of the study revealed several different factors that could conceivably contribute to the increase of ADHD diagnoses. It is a complex area where several different components overlap and can conceivably affect society as well as individuals, both negatively and positively. (Less)
Abstract (Swedish)
(More)

(Less)
