The international civil societies in this study are Amnesty International and Human Rights Watch. A qualitative method of research is employed using interview, more specifically semi-structured interview with a representative from each of the international civil society organizations but relying mostly on secondary sources for analysis. Realism, Liberalism and Constructivism are applied as the underlying theoretical frameworks which explains the departure of human rights, its place and how it is perceived in the democratic dispensation in Nigeria. The reports and news published, and the actions of the international civil society organizations reveal their invaluable role in the fight for human right values and upholding human rights in the country. Also, the comparison of both organizations highlights the one that has most prominence in the fight against human right violations and different methods being used. (Less)
