- Abstract
- Background: Psilocybin-assisted therapy (PAT) shows promise in the treatment of a variety of mental disorders. To date, no meta-analysis has been conducted on the effect of PAT on quality of life (QOL). Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis of clinical trials examining PAT and reporting on QOL, extracted from Embase, Medline, PsycInfo, Web of Science and Cochrane CENTRAL. Results: Across six studies (pooled n = 412), the effect of PAT on QOL was moderate to large (g = 0.69). Pre-post within-group effect was large (g = 1.08), pre- to follow-up within-group effect was moderate (g = 0.61) and pre-post between-group effect was small (g = 0.31). Limitations: Few studies available, low sample sizes, and high risk of bias. Conclusion:... (More)

Conclusion: Our review and meta-analysis suggest that PAT may be effective in increasing QOL across a clinically diverse sample, however caution is warranted due to various limitations. (Less)
