Ideology and Self-censorship in Swedish University Students: A Survey Finding Support for Self-censorship Relating to Ideology

- Abstract
- The population of western scholars and students shows signs of ideological bias in terms of its composition and willingness to self-censor. This study surveyed a Swedish student population (N =89) of predominantly social scientists on ideology (Moral Foundations; MFQ-20 and Social Dominance Orientation; S-SDO). The study also explored the relation between self-censorship (SC), age, gender and university years. The results showed significant correlations between student SC and the measures of progressivism (r =- .48), social dominance orientation (r = .51) and gender (r = .24).
